End of the Line

No. 90015 waits at the very end of the Castledale branch. It has just dropped off the Thursday mixed goods and is waiting for the station pilot to shunt the yard before taking on water for the return journey. The line used to continue to the right of the picture to a limestone quarry two miles outside of the town, but sadly, those days are gone, and the limited amount of freight now consists of supplies to local businesses.

Outside the gate of the field below, a milk churn stand reminds us of days now past, when this was the way that milk was collected from farms. This countryside feature can still be seen but is becoming a rarity.
